How to use Skype in business?

What is Skype?

Skype is a piece of software that lets you make free calls to anyone else on Skype, anywhere in the world. Even though the calls are free, the quality is good. If your business contacts are using webcams, you can also make free video calls. You can even call landlines and mobile phones at really cheap per minute rates.

Just like instant messengers, you can also use Skype to chat and not just with one other person at a time, but with up to 100 people in a group chat. You can also bookmark a group chat and find it later, which is handy for persistent chats with business contacts.

How to input Kanji and Kana with a French keyboard

When you are working in Japan, it coulb be useful to be able to input kana, for example to create files in Word, writing e-mails or to do a search on the Internet.

You can follow our Japanese IME (Input Method Editor) installation manual. An IME is a program that allows computer users to enter complex characters and symbols, such as Japanese characters, using a standard keyboard.

You will be able to input Japanese text into any applications, Web forms, and e-mail messages on any language version of Windows and it is easy. After you have installed the Global IME for Office XP, you just start your Office XP program, select the language from the Language bar, and you can type the language you choose, regardless of the language version of Office XP or Windows you are using.

The Internet in Japan

There are two main ways to connect to the Internet in Japan : ADSL and the optical fiber.

■ADSL

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is a data communications technology that enables faster data transmission over copper telephone lines than a conventional modem can provide.
The distinguishing characteristic of ADSL is that the volume of data flow is greater in one direction than the other.
The low cost of ADSL in Japan makes Japan one of the cheapest places in the world for broadband Internet access.

■Fiber optic cable

An optical fiber is a thin, transparent fiber, usually made of glass or plastic for transmitting light.
The latest and greatest offer for connectivity for the masses, fiber optic cable boasts speeds of up to 100mbps but the service is still limited to certain areas and a bit more expensive than ADSL.

Japan is the world leader in FTTH deployments. Japan is an extremely competitive marketplace.
FTTH subscribers have exceeded new ADSL subscribers since early 2005 and surpassed total cable modem subscribers since June of 2005.

Who is Velo?

Velo is Trosystems' mascot.

Vélo is a half French and half Japanese cat. He was born in France but grew up in Japan. He can speak both French and Japanese.

At the beginning, Velo was a stray cat but one day, a man who was cycling found him and decided to keep him. As his master loves bicycle race, Velo knows how to ride a bicycle.

Velo does not like cat food. He prefers rice with chocolate and also likes pizzas. He prefers drinking Cola than water.
